Brief history of Elio J. Guitars

Elio Joseph Martini was a hard working, blue collar American man with a wife and two sons. He worked hard and honestly to provide for his family so they could have a better life and he instilled these ethics in his boys.

In 2013, Lynn Ellsworth and Patrick Coleman began manufacturing hand-made guitars in Washington State under the name Lynn Ellsworth Guitars LLC. This humble business was gaining a loyal customer base with their great sounding and super-light Relicmaster Series, made from reclaimed woods, as well as the many “one-of-a-kind” custom guitars they built to order.

One of these customers was guitar collector Mark Martini, the eldest son of Elio J. Martini. Mark added so many of these guitars to his collection that he decided to purchase a third of this corporation, and in 2014 Mark became a full partner.

In an effort to explore their artistic vision, Patrick Coleman and Mark Martini started a new brand of guitars in 2017. For their first line of guitars they
decided to revive the defunct “17th Street” guitar line, so they brought in the designer of this line as a consultant; David Levine. Because of the unique look of the Pacific Yew Wood, and the growing popularity of these custom guitar builds, they decided to offer a line called “Yewtars” as well.

This new brand is based on the same ideals that Mr. Elio J. Martini lived his life by; hard working, American values. So when it came time to name this new endeavor, the logical choice was Elio J. Guitars. And when we thought of a phrase that would best describe our products and ethics, that too came easily; Great, American Values.
