The history of Lynn Ellsworth Guitars: Lynn’s history as a luthier is well documented; from his early days working with Wayne Charvel, Grover Jackson (Charvel/Jackson Guitars respectively), Jim Warmoth (Warmoth Custom Guitar Parts) David Schecter (Schecter Guitars), Bernie C. Rico (B.C. Rich), Paul Hamer (Hamer Guitars), Randy Zacuto (Mighty Mite), Floyd Rose (Floyd Rose Inc.) and pickup designer; Seymour Duncan. After parting ways with Jim Warmoth, Lynn continued to make guitars under the Boogie Bodies brand for stars like Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Roger Fisher, Bobby Cochran, Jerry Cantrell and numerous other legends of rock n’ roll. Lynn was also instrumental in the design of the 2TEK Bridge. Lynn never had the business success of his counterparts and this lead Lynn to change occupations. After a decade had past, the name Boogie Bodies was picked up by a luthier who had no ties to Lynn.

Enter Patrick Coleman. Patrick grew up in the projects located in the greater Boston area where his basement was the hot-spot for musicians to jam, so there was always a guitar nearby. This is where Patrick fell in love with the sound, look and craftsmanship of guitars. Music was not paying the bills, so Patrick enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Spokane Washington where he acquired an older Boogie Bodies guitar body from a bandmate. After looking Lynn up on-line, he called Lynn looking for parts to rebuild this guitar. As fate would have it, he discovered that Lynn was also living in Spokane. Lynn was working in a machine shop, but he never lost his love for lutherie as he was still building guitars as a hobby. When Patrick arrived at Lynn’s house, he saw a beautiful array of guitar bodies which were stacked in piles, along with complete guitars sitting on stands that were strewn across his family room. Patrick was amazed at the beauty of these builds and immediately encouraged Lynn to get back into lutherie and start a guitar business with him. Later that year, Lynn and Patrick began manufacturing hand-made guitars in Washington State under the business name; Lynn Ellsworth Guitars LLC. This humble business was gaining a loyal customer base due to the great sound, playability and quality, of the custom made guitars they were building.

Mark Martini was one of those loyal customers and he was so impressed with the guitars he had purchased, that he decided to have a shop built to help expand this endeavor. Even though Lynn was woking part-time to augment his retirement, and Patrick had a full-time job, this company continued to gradually expand. Unfortunately, Lynn passed away in 2024. With his lutherie torch and the legacy that followed now passed on to Patrick, he has taken on the reins as the head luthier of this shop. Patrick has taken the skills that Lynn had taught him and has assembled a crew of the finest craftsmen and electronic technicians in the area, in an effort to take Lynn Ellsworth Guitars to a new level! To this day they continue to bring their customers high quality guitars at a price they can afford, while going out of our way to treat each customer and their guitar with the utmost dedication and attention to detail that they have become accustomed too and deserve.

In a world that pumps out guitars like a cookie-cutters on an assembly line; identical and lacking character: Lynn Ellsworth Guitars continues to buck the trend by creating each guitar with its own unique personality and characteristics, right here in the good ol’ US of A!
